Natural Cures for Psoriasis

In spite of the medical advancement and the millions of dollars spent for the research on psoriasis, there still is no permanent cure for this medical condition. The most that people with psoriasis can do is to treat the symptoms that comes with it. Aside from the ointments and medicines that your dermatologist might have prescribed, there are actually natural ways that might be as effective. At the very least, these natural cures on psoriasis would help the medicines to fight the symptoms. Listed below are some of the cures.

Drink Plenty of Water

You might have heard from your teachers or parents to drink plenty of water. Actually, most of us have been accustomed to the 8-glassful of water a day because that’;s what out mother told us when we were still kids. As you grow older, however, we need to drink more water and that’s what they forgot to tell us. On the contrary, we tend to stay away from plain water once we have a taste of soda and other carbonated drinks. For some people, alcoholic drinks and beer is heaven. Heck, some people even make beers as their main source of quench. The result, of course, is dehydration. Some naturalists suggest that lack of water in our body is actually the one of the major triggers for psoriasis. To hydrate yourself sufficiently, a person must drink half of our weight every day in ounces of water. That means if you are 120 pounds, you should at least drink 60 ounces of water. Some physicians also suggest that you drink your water with some sea salt to help your body to hydrate properly.

Avoid Skin Damage

Sun burns may look like temporary but it is a kind of skin damage which can also cause your psoriasis. And that’s not limited to sun burns because cuts, burns, scratch can also cause psoriasis to flare up. So avoid getting your skin damaged and keep yourself from scratching itchy skins. And when you’re on the beach, make sure that you are well protected.

Get Some Sunlight

When we said that you stay away from too much sun, we doesn’t mean that you should stay away from all the time. Although too much exposure from the sun can cause your psoriasis to flare up, underexposure would do just same. So better make sure that you get a little bit of sun exposure every day. A few minutes of sunlight every day would be enough and comes with it is the health benefits as well as being able to deal with your psoriasis.

Bath Daily

We not only need to bath daily but we also need to do it properly. Bathing in extremely cold or hot water will also won’t help so you better make sure that when you bath, you do it comfortably. Aside from that, harsh chemicals (in soap, shampoo and conditioner) is a big No-No. The chemicals and extreme temperatures of water are known causes of psoriasis flare ups.

There are a lot more natural ways of preventing the flare up of psoriasis. If you didn’t notice, you may have been doing those four things already. The point is, we have to care for our bodies. No one else would care better for it better than us and it is better to do care for it before the psoriasis flare up which may need some kind of medication to alleviate. As we all know, prevention is better than cure.
